영어논문작성방법 (1) Introduction (서론)

Introduction (서론)

서론은 1. 알려진 사실, 2. 아직 모르는 사실, 3. 연구 목적 순으로 기술합니다.

논문 서론에는 일반적인 문장 구조가 정해져 있습니다.

1. Known. 알려진 사실을 기술합니다.

 현재완료시제(또는 과거시제) + that + 현재시제

It has been (      ) that 주어 (현재시제 동사) ~~~ [참고문헌].

(괄호) 안에 들어갈 단어: demonstrated, documented, reported, shown, indicated, suggested, pointed out, proposed, advocated, asserted, contended 중에 적절한 것으로 선택하면 됩니다.

실제 예문: It has been (demonstrated) that brain and muscle represent(현재시제) the youngest tissues of these exceptional individuals [참고문헌].

2. Unknown. 현재까지 알려지지 않은 것(의문점)을 제시합니다.

However, ~~~~~has not (yet) been (fully) (    ).

(괄호) 안에 들어갈 단어: determined, clarified, elucidated, understood, known, defined, established 중에 적절한 것으로 선택하면 됩니다.

실제 예문: However, the use of these tools to diagnose and/or monitor progressive cognitive impairment or response to treatment has not yet been evaluated.

3. Aim. 연구의 목적(의문점)을 기술합니다.

 과거시제가 일반적. 가끔 현재시제도 사용 가능.

 1) The (aim / objective / purpose) of the present study was to examine whether ~~~ can ~~~~.

   ‘was’가 일반적. 아주 가끔 ‘is’ 가능.

실제 예문: The (aim) of this study was to determine the effects of a 2-month flavonoid quercetin supplementation on oxidative stress and inflammatory biomarkers in nonprofessional athletes with regular exercise.

 2) The present study was (      ) to ~~~~.

(괄호) 안에 들어갈 단어: conducted / designed / attempted / undertaken / carried out / performed 중에 적절한 것으로 선택하면 됩니다.

Cf) Try는 시도했는데 실패했다는 의미가 내포되어 있어서 논문에서 거의 사용하지 않습니다. Attempt 사용 가능합니다.

실제 예문: The present study was (designed) to establish adequate criteria for categorizing 'obesity disease' in Japan in relation to obesity-related complications.
