Target cell (표적 세포) (PBS, peripheral blood smear, 말초혈액도말)

Target cell (표적 세포, 표적 적혈구, 과녁 세포)

Target cell은 RBC의 central pallor 중앙에 staining이 증가된 부분이 있어 과녁처럼 보인다.

Target cell은 cytoplasm의 volume에 비해 membrane이 과잉으로 있어서 (redundant) 생긴 결과이다.

Target cell이 형성되는 원인은 다음과 같다.

Target cell이 관찰되는 상황 중 실제로 자주 접할 만한 상황은

간 질환, 철 결핍, 황달 등이 있겠다.

더러운 슬라이드를 사용한 경우 artifact로도 target cell이 나타날 수 있다고 한다.
